My video/web projects have encompassed two broadly defined themes: personal histories and cultural memories. Views is from my database of images, sounds, and texts dealing with concepts of anticipations and anxieties that I recorded after 9/11/2001. The video images are from my own immediate environment in my studio, and of film clips from different eras including: 9/11, The Cold War, and World War II. The ambiguous sources and juxtaposition of sounds and images are intended to accentuate a post 9/11 mood rather than to explicate any of the specific contemporary or historical events. As a result, I have focused on the broader universal theme of watching and being watched and the fear, anxiety and dark humor that these images may elicit for the viewer.
